Zombies Attack London Bridge!

…kind of.

I’d heard that a zombie flashmob was going to happen at London Bridge railway station on Friday 13th, and straightaway I thought, Uh-huh, that’s the kind of thing you want to take pictures of. Hundreds of zombies invading London Bridge station, mixing with the commuters on their way home and dancing to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, what’s not to like?

I got to London Bridge at about 6.45 and started hunting zombies, should be easy to spot, I thought… Hmmm… What’s this? Where are they? I couldn’t find any. It was all commuters and poilce, and no reanimated corpses, no Michael Jackson, more Living Hell than Living Dead.

I later found out that it had kind of, sort of, been cancelled, but kind of not exactly. Some zombies did turn up, and the whole thing had been moved out to the bus station outside, the “whole thing” being about 10 zombies… and about 40 photographers! So, it was a bit disappointing that the event didn’t go according to plan, but there were still some good photographs to be had. I asked one zombie lady if she’d mind coming over to a handy bus parked nearby, so I could get her to pose for some shots, and she was amazing! She was working it like her un-life depended on it, and I was definitely happy with the shots I got of her.

…and No, I didn’t photoshop her eyes out, she rolled ‘em all the way up into her head. Star!

The point of the evening was to promote the London Bridge Festival, which will be taking place from July 10th to 25th, 2009.

  2. Great photos! No worries re: disappointing turnout when you can just move in close.
